Rosanne Somerson & Joyce Lin in Conversation

On occasion of Joyce Lin: Material Autopsy, on view now at 64 White Street, join Rosanne Somerson, President Emerita and Professor of Furniture Design, Rhode Island School of Design, in conversation with designer Joyce Lin.

One of the pioneering women woodworkers of the American Studio Furniture movement, Rosanne Somerson received her BFA from RISD in 1976. More than forty years later, Joyce Lin followed in her footsteps, earning a double degree from RISD and Brown. In this Zoom conversation, the two designers will discuss the importance of mentorship in the design profession and the lasting impact of RISD traditions, as well as Lin’s post-graduate professional career and Somerson’s upcoming return to exhibiting her own work.

The conversation will be moderated by James Zemaitis, Director of Museum Relations, R & Company.
