For more than three decades, Jeff Zimmerman has pushed the boundaries of glassmaking, leveraging the medium to create singular sculptural forms and reinventing the way we have come to know and experience glass. On January 24, R & Company will open an expansive exhibition of new works, highlighting recent innovations and formal breakthroughs that further evolve his celebrated forms. Jeff Zimmerman: Metamorphosis captures the duality of Zimmerman’s practice— his sensitivity to context, producing works that eloquently respond to light and space, and his mastery of material, using the endless variability and kinetic potential of glass to create an immersive, generative effect. Among the approximately 30 works on view, there are new illuminated hanging sculptures, complex wallworks, and freestanding vessels that highlight the depth and breadth of Zimmerman’s output and artistic sensibility.
