Close Encounters: Luam Melake and Elissa Auther in Conversation

On occasion of Luam Melake: Furnishing Feelings, join designer Luam Melake and Elissa Auther, William and Mildred Lasden Chief Curator, Museum of Arts and Design, for a conversation on Melake’s practice of designing furniture that can serve as a catalyst for social interaction and emotional connectivity. The two will discuss how the history of radical design of the 1960s and 70s informs Melake’s conceptualization of what furniture can do for us today, and will investigate the designer’s research into materials and their potential for creative adaptation.
