Building 86

This September, Building 86, our 16,000-square-foot warehouse within the Brooklyn Navy Yard, will open by appointment as a public destination for collecting, exploration, and discovery. Long used to house our collection and support gallery operations, the facility will welcome visitors into a working environment that has quietly shaped much of what we do.

Building 86 houses several thousand works drawn from the private collection alongside historical and contemporary design represented by the gallery. Set within the industrial landscape of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, it offers a new way to experience design, encouraging close observation, dialogue, and unexpected connections across periods, materials, movements, and makers.
